“Walk Out” Ceremony Salutes Retiring Police Chief after 34 Years of Service

 

WHAT:          Mayor Fulop joins Public Safety officials and the Jersey City Police Department for a farewell “walk out” ceremony to honor retiring Police Chief Michael Kelly. Hundreds of JCPD officers will stand in formation as Chief Kelly exits Police Headquarters for the last time, signifying the end of his 34-year-long law enforcement career.

 

Chief Kelly, 59, joined the JCPD in 1988, rising through the ranks to become the leader of the department in 2018.  He credits his work as a homicide detective for exposing him to the aspects of police work that intrigue him most, cracking cases and pursuing criminals.
