“Walk the Vote in Morristown” — A Safe Way to Connect with Voters

Morristown, October 1, 2020 — The Morristown Democratic Committee wants every voter to cast their ballot! So, we’re calling on volunteers to “Walk the Vote in Morristown” and deliver door hangers to assist voters.

The pandemic has forced us to find creative ways to reach voters and that’s why we’re asking supporters to “take a walk through Morristown” and safely deliver a written message encouraging early voting.

Right now voters are seeking information and planning to act early, so we want them to be prepared with the essential information about the election process in Morristown.

The door hanger’s front side is dedicated to providing the basic information required by Morristown voters in plain and simple language. The hanger also contains candidate information, dates, times and addresses of voting locations.

On the upcoming weekends in October, we’ll meet with walkers and supply them with access to a phone app containing voter lists or if preferred, a paper list. If you’d like to help Walk the Vote, but aren’t available on weekends, email us and we’ll get back to you with other options.

“Our preference would be to have direct voter contact, but campaigning during a pandemic requires flexibility. In this time of social distancing, we’ve had to completely rethink how to connect with voters,” said Aaron (AJ) Oliver, Morristown Democratic Committee Chair.

“We’re already using phone and text banking techniques, but because there are many questions around the voting method this year, we’re reaching out with a clear printed message about procedures in Morristown. “Walk the Vote in Morristown” also takes advantage of our scenic town during this colorful time of the year; it’s an ideal time to take a walk in Morristown!”
