Ward E Councilperson James Solomon Posts Strong Quarter 2 Fundraising Numbers Fueled by Grassroots Donors

Solomon Continues to Reject Jersey City Real Estate Developer Money

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Today Jersey City Ward E Councilperson James Solomon announced that he posted another strong grassroots fundraising quarter. In the second quarter, Solomon raised over $81,000 from 621 grassroots donors, 380 of whom are from Jersey City.

The campaign’s median donation for the quarter was $50. He enters the third fundraising quarter with over $125,000 cash on hand.

Solomon’s successful quarter is another demonstration of his widespread grassroots support in the race for Ward E. Staying true to his 2017 campaign pledge, Solomon did not take a single dime from Jersey City real estate developers again in quarter two.

“I am always humbled when hardworking people are willing to support our campaign with grassroots donations,” said Solomon. “There is a clear difference in this race between our people-driven campaign and the political machine that’s trying to regain control of downtown. I am proud to have the support of the community, not the machine and its developer donors.”

Solomon has centered his re-election race on a platform of strong public schools, more affordable housing, and key infrastructure improvements that previous administrations have long neglected such as new schools, new parks, and safer streets for pedestrians.
