WATSON COLEMAN FOR CONGRESS CAMPAIGN CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO ANTI-SEMITIC MATERIALS FALSELY CREDITED TO THE CONGRESSWOMAN

EWING – The Bonnie Watson Coleman for Congress campaign today called for an investigation into anti-Semitic materials created to look like they came from the Congresswoman.

This is not the first time that materials have been mocked up to look like they came directly from the Watson Coleman for Congress campaign before being sent to what appears to be the campaign’s email supporter list.

In the past, the false information and allegations lodged against Rep. Watson Coleman have been posted on the Princeton Patch site by someone using the alias “Ed Watchdog” and have also been displayed prominently as “news” on NJToday.net, an on-line website that lists the Congresswoman’s Primary opponent as the publisher.  These ridiculous “news stories” have then been disseminated to Bonnie for Congress supporters and made to look like they are coming directly from the campaign.

In the past these stories have made a wide range of ridiculous claims meant to discredit the Congresswoman and impugn her record during campaign season and then they have been sent out under the false claim that they are directly from the Watson Coleman for Congress campaign.  But today is different.

Today’s fake email with the headline, “Don’t buy from Jews” to Watson Coleman supporters is not just a false claim, it’s an absolutely disgusting anti-Semitic attack that strikes at the heart of what Bonnie Watson Coleman has stood for her entire career.

Bonnie has not only devoted her career in public service to being an inclusive, strong fighter for EVERYONE’S rights, she has long been on the frontlines in the ongoing battle against prejudice and hate.

These duplicitous attempts to steal someone’s identity and send out lies in an effort to sway an election is not a new tactic.  In fact, according to Blue Jersey, this same practice was employed by an individual named James Devine just a few years ago.  That story can be found here: http://www.bluejersey.com/2017/01/did-you-get-this-email-from-bernie-sanders/

Unfortunately, these Trump-like tactics sometimes go without consequence. Devine is now serving as Bonnie’ opponent’s campaign manager and is still allowed to try and impact our Democratic Primary despite substantial, unpaid, fines owed to ELEC.

There is no way for the Watson Coleman campaign to know who is engaging in this identity theft and spreading this hateful, anti-Semitic, false news.  But we are asking for an immediate investigation to find the culprit, or culprits.
