Weinberg Issues Statement on Her Attendance at the State of the Union

Trenton – Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg was invited by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to attend the State of the Union address as her guest tonight. Senator Weinberg issues the following statement:

“I’m honored by Speaker Pelosi’s invitation. As the nation’s first female Speaker of the House, she is an inspiration to women all over this country. I am proud to join her tonight as she sits behind, but elevated above, President Trump. She is a longtime leader in democratic values and as the head of the People’s House she is a powerful, necessary antithesis to President Trump’s reckless, racist and misogynistic attacks on our country.

“Speaker Pelosi has spent a lifetime fighting for the rights of those most marginalized in our society, for a fairer and more just United States. I am grateful for the opportunity to attend and bear witness to this address at such an important time in our nation’s history.”
