Wiley recognized as a leader in gender diversity by Executive Women of New Jersey

HOBOKEN, N.J.—November 7, 2019—John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JW-A) (NYSE: JW-B), a global leader in research and education, is pleased to announce that the Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ) has selected the company for the 2019 Corporate Board Gender Diversity Award. EWNJ honors those publicly traded New Jersey organizations that appoint three or more women to their corporate boards and make an impact on gender inclusion.

Awarded at A Seat at the Table Corporate Gender Diversity Awards Breakfast, Wiley along with 29 other companies made the EWNJ Honor Roll. This list reflects each organization’s efforts to ensure that women have equal access to the boardroom and high-level executive leadership. The event also featured the exclusive release of EWNJ’s report on the number of women serving on boards and in the top leadership of public companies in New Jersey. The report, produced in collaboration with PwC, is the only one of its kind in the state.

“Diversity and inclusivity are not just boxes to check off a list,” said Lynne Borthwick, senior vice president of global talent at Wiley. “We value the contributions of all colleagues regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation and are proud to be a leader in gender diversity by offering women at all levels of our organization opportunities to grow personally and professionally.”

“This year, a record 30 companies made our list,” stated Barbara E. Kauffman, president of EWNJ and EVP & COO of Newark Regional Business Partnership. “And while we clearly have a lot more work to do, this news shows that our efforts are having an impact. It demonstrates that more companies recognize the tremendous value of women’s leadership and are taking active steps to ensure that women have equal access to opportunities for ascension. I congratulate the corporations listed on our Honor Roll for leading the way in making corporate leadership more inclusive.”

Headquartered in New Jersey, Wiley has more than 6,000 colleagues in 70 offices around the globe. In addition to Wiley’s board of directors, women hold leadership roles at the enterprise level and in all business leadership teams.
