Wimberly on Affordable Housing Hearing at Stockton College; Applauds Allocation Plan for Affordable Housing Trust Fund
(TRENTON) – Wrapping up the fourth off-site hearing of the Assembly Housing Committee, Chairman Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen, Passaic) issued the following statement:
“From day one, our top priority has been to listen to residents and all stakeholders to learn more specifics about the state of affordable housing in New Jersey today.
“Through their stories, the hearings over the last year have informed us, making problems with housing in New Jersey both tangible and real for us as legislators. Today was no different. We had an enlightening and informative conversation on housing and potential policy.
“I welcome the Governor’s announcement of the state’s allocation program for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, $60 million. It is time there was a plan in place to help families who are struggling to climb up and fall in the middle or even below the poverty line.”
