Wimberly Appointed to Joint Committee on Housing Affordability

Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly says he will support a millionaire's tax if it is posted for a vote, but he doesn't see enough support in the caucus for such a bill to pass.

Wimberly Appointed to Joint Committee on Housing Affordability

(TRENTON) – Newly appointed Housing and Community Development Chairman Benjie Wimberly has been appointed to the New Jersey Joint Committee on Housing Affordability by Speaker Craig Coughlin.
“I look forward to discussing the issues New Jersey is currently facing, including making our state a more affordable place to live,” said Wimberly (D-Passaic). “I am eager to tackle ever-rising housing prices and property taxes as well as aiding in community development.”

The Joint Committee on Housing Affordability consists of Assembly and Senate members from both sides of the aisle and provides a voluntary system for municipalities to follow in zoning for affordable housing.

“Saying it is an honor to succeed Assemblyman Green on this committee would simply be an understatement,” said Wimberly. “Among so many other things, he was a champion and fierce advocate of affordable housing, especially for those less fortunate in our state. I can only hope to keep his legacy alive the best I can and fight for the people of New Jersey in the tenacious, admirable way he did.”
