Wimberly on New Jersey Affordable Housing Discussion
(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen/Passaic) issued the following statement regarding the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee’s public hearing on the issue of affordable housing in New Jersey:
“Today’s hearing on affordable housing was a productive one. Our committee heard from New Jersey residents impacted by affordable housing insufficiencies, municipal mayors, and a few of our colleagues in the legislature among many others. The concerns we heard today were constructive and a great start to the discussion of bringing more affordable homes to our state.
“Above all else, affordable housing is a human issue. We will take all the valued points we heard today into consideration as we continue to hold several conversations around the state on this topic throughout the remainder of the year.
“My lines of communication are open. I myself, along with the members of the Housing and Community Development Committee, look forward to continuing an open dialogue as we begin the path towards finding viable solutions to New Jersey affordable housing shortages.”
