YMCA of MEWSA Begins Send A Kid to Camp Fundraiser

The YMCA of MEWSA is kicking off its annual Send A Kid to Camp fundraiser, allowing children of all backgrounds and economic statuses the opportunity to attend summer camp. Throughout our nine camp locations, we aim to give children ages 3-13 a safe place to belong, build confidence and learn positive behaviors from strong role models who exemplify the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Individuals and corporations have the opportunity to support campers by covering the cost of tuition. In 2022, nearly 200 campers received financial assistance to attend a YMCA of MEWSA camp thanks to community members who donated more than $100,000.

“At the Y, we believe that all children deserve to experience a fun summer,” says Director of Development Elizabeth Bennett. “Many families rely on the Y to ensure that their children continue to learn, grow and develop when school is out for the summer,” This fundraiser also gives donors a chance to cover campers’ swim lessons, healthy meals and snacks and more. “We want to ensure that every child is included and doesn’t get left behind due to their family’s financial circumstances at the time.”

Individuals can donate at ymcaofmewsa.org/summer. Peer-to-peer fundraising is also available to share with family and friends.

Companies interested in sponsoring campers or contributing differently can contact Elizabeth Bennett at elizabeth.bennett@ymcaofmewsa.org or 732-516-2087.
