Zeeshan Siddiqi Accuses Old Bridge Republicans of Silencing the Voice of the Public
Zeeshan Siddiqi, Candidate for Old Bridge Town Council Ward 2, stated that at the last Old Bridge Town Council meeting, an emboldened rogue majority of Republicans voted to accept the first reading of an ordinance to eliminate one of the two public comment portions of the Town Council meetings.
Mr. Siddiqi stated that public access and input to legislative action, and the opportunity for elective officials to listen and evaluate the public’s response to their actions, is a fundamental necessity to ensure that local government is truly representative of the people.
He stated the open public comments portion has been an essential part of these meetings for decades and that for this rogue majority to restrict public commentary for any period of time is a blatant attempt to silence the residents.
Mr. Siddiqi criticized his opponent in the upcoming election, Eric DePalma, as being the hand-picked puppet of these Republicans. This was demonstrated by his affirmative vote with this rogue majority.
Mr. Siddiqi stated that as Councilman, he will be more accessible and responsive to the resident’s input and needs. He is asking the Ward 2 voters to restore honesty and integrity to the Town Council and “Move Old Bridge Forward”, by electing him to the Old Bridge Town Council on the Democratic Column A Line.
