Democrat Rebecca Bennett Calls on Defense Secretary Hegseth to Resign

U.S. Navy Vet: ‘Let’s put politics aside: this is unacceptable and indefensible’

SOMERVILLE, NJ — U.S. Navy veteran and Democratic candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th District Rebecca Bennett is calling on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to resign following the latest revelations about the classified war plans leak. Bennett’s full statement is below:

“I spent over 15 years in active military service, and saw firsthand the incredible sacrifices our service men and women make every day to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Secretary Hegseth discussing highly classified, imminent war plans on an unsecured channel not only puts our national security at risk, it puts the lives of our military at risk.

“Let’s put politics aside: this is unacceptable and indefensible. He should resign. Congress must investigate how a lapse like this was ever allowed to happen.”
