Summit, New Jersey—Former federal and state prosecutor and Democratic candidate for NJ State Assembly in the 21st Legislative District, Andrew Macurdy, submitted nominating petitions with 1,292 signatures, more than five times the 250-signature minimum.

Macurdy gave the following statement about the filing:

I am so proud of the dozens of volunteers who collectively knocked on thousands of doors to reach this number of residents.  We are laying the foundation of a grassroots movement that will be instrumental in flipping this district in November.  This is only the beginning.

Macurdy, a New Jersey native, is a newcomer to the political scene. The campaign got off to a strong start, raising $94,000 in the first 6 weeks of fundraising.
