Fulop Announces South Orange Mayor Sheena C. Collum as Lieutenant Governor Pick

Bold, transparent campaign continues to break the mold with historic, people-first ticket

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Jersey City Mayor and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop today announced Sheena C. Collum, longtime Mayor of South Orange, as his running mate for Lieutenant Governor. The announcement is the latest milestone in a campaign that has upended expectations and set a new standard for transparency, policy depth, and public engagement.

From day one, the Fulop for Governor campaign has looked and felt different, releasing the most detailed policy agenda of any candidate, engaging directly with communities across the state, and now, introducing the public to the team that would lead New Jersey forward.

"New Jersey voters deserve to know what kind of leadership they’re voting for, not just headlines, but substance. Not just promises, but a plan," said Fulop. "Sheena Collum brings unmatched experience in local government as the longest serving woman mayor in Essex County, with a fearless record of progressive reform, and a commitment to service that reflects the values of this campaign. I’m honored to have her as a partner in this fight for a stronger New Jersey.”

Collum, the first woman to serve as South Orange’s Village President, has been widely recognized for her forward-thinking leadership on issues like housing, infrastructure, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility. Her tenure has focused on empowering residents, investing in future-ready communities, and holding government accountable.

"I'm thrilled to join Mayor Fulop as his running mate, because I believe in a government that works for people, not the other way around," said Collum. "This campaign has shown what’s possible when you lead with ideas and integrity. We’ve both spent our careers in public service delivering real results at the local level, independent of political machines and party bosses, and now we’re ready to bring that same energy and independence to Trenton.”

The announcement comes as part of Fulop’s broader effort to lift the curtain on what a Fulop-Collum administration would look like: collaborative, transparent, and grounded in the lived experiences of everyday New Jerseyans.

"This campaign isn’t about personalities, it’s about building a team that can deliver," added Fulop. "Every step of the way, we’re inviting voters into the process. And today is another example of that."

With the announcement of Collum as Lieutenant Governor, Fulop continues to shape a campaign rooted in substance, transparency, and bold leadership, offering a clear, people-powered alternative in the race for New Jersey’s future.
