Senator Kim Statement on Supreme Court Ruling on Trump Foreign Aid Freeze
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Senator Andy Kim released the following statement on the United States Supreme Court’s ruling that the Trump administration must pay out nearly $2 billion in foreign assistance approved by Congress.
“The fact that the Supreme Court had to weigh in at all on the distribution of Congressionally approved foreign aid represents a massive failure in President Trump’s foreign policy and the extent to which America’s standing in the world has been weakened. This funding is not charity; it makes America stronger and helps create jobs at home. This may be a step forward today, but the actions by the Trump Administration represent a massive step backwards in American leadership.”
Senator Kim is a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP); the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and the Special Committee on Aging.
