Cryan and Quijano

Assemblywoman Annette Quijano announced today her campaign for re-election to represent the 20th Legislative District municipalities of Elizabeth, Hillside, Roselle, and Union Township in the New Jersey General Assembly. Having secured the support of the Union County Democratic Committee, she will be running for re-election alongside Governor Murphy and Senator Joe Cryan in the June 8th Democratic Primary.

Assemblywoman Quijano has served the 20th Legislative District in the General Assembly since 2008, when she became the first woman and first minority to represent the 20th District.  She currently serves as Majority Conference Leader and is on the Commerce and Economic Development, Consumer Affairs, and Education Committees in the General Assembly. Formerly, she served as the Chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee and the Chair of the Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee. She is also a member of the bipartisan New Jersey Legislative Disability Caucus and the Legislative Latino Caucus.

Quijano is running to continue the work of helping our communities recover from the coronavirus and get vaccinated, improve affordability, economic opportunity, and social justice for all New Jerseyans.

“I have always considered it an honor to represent all of the communities in Elizabeth, Hillside, Roselle, and Union.” said the assemblywoman.  “We have made significant strides in building a better New Jersey, despite the coronavirus pandemic. We took a people-first and science-based approach to the pandemic by caring for our neighbors and providing food and supplies, as well as educating people about the importance of wearing masks and the safety and effectiveness of vaccines. I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished over the past two years to increase school funding in our communities and keep property taxes in check, increase the minimum wage, expand paid family leave, end Out-of-Network surprise medical billing, protect Obamacare in New Jersey, require Black history education in every grade, and pass the “Driver’s License for All” legislation.  I’m proud to run for reelection alongside Governor Murphy and Senator Cryan and look forward to continuing the work of building a better New Jersey that works for everyone.”
