The Race is On for Sheriff in Hasbrouck Heights

The Bergen County Republican Organization has begun its convention at the VFW Hall in Hasbrouck Heights to select a nominee for sheriff in a special Nov. 6th election.

The following competitors have gathered to make their appeal to be the man who goes up against a Democrat (to be considered and selected tomorrow) to succeed former Sheriff Mike Saudino:

Harry Shortway, Jr. of Midland Park, a Mayor and Undersheriff;

Jack DeLorenzo of Hasbrouck Heights, a retired captain of detectives and the current mayor of Hasbrouck Heights;

Lewis J. Morrell of Garfield, retired from the Bergen Sheriff’s Office;

and

Matthew Ryan from Mahwah, a K-9 patrol officer with the Bergen Sheriff’s Office.
