As Ras Baraka prepares to kick off his mayoral reelection on the steps of City Hall today, North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos arrives power walking at the dance on the heels of a Don Pepe’s birthday bash on Tuesday night where he raised $175,000.

A source who went to the party said both Mayor Baraka and Central Ward Councilwoman Gayle Chaneyfield-Jenkins (Baraka’s likely 2018 challenger to the city hall throne) mixed at the event.

But it will be Baraka, and not Chaneyfield-Jenkins, who has Ramos’ support, a notable dynamic, especially following the school board elections made up of a unity Baraka-Ramos slate, and the mayor’s quest to make the upcoming municipal contest a snooze-fest with the North Warder in tow.
