En route to make history as a Sikh American elected official, Councilman Ravi Bhalla appears to have prevailed in the race for mayor of Hoboken, but the race will officially be decided on the machines.

Roght now, he’s up by 300, sources say.

Bhalla had the backing of Mayor Dawn Zimmer, who stood down this year rather than run for reelection.

In a competitive race, he broke through a large field that included Jen Giattino, Mike DeFusco and Anthony Romano.

DeFusco is running in second right now.
