Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage Announces Resignation of Police Director James Cosgrove

Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage announced the resignation of Elizabeth Police Director James Cosgrove and called for Police Chief John Brennan to resign, as well. Cosgrove was the focus of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in a two-month internal affairs investigation into allegations of racist and misogynistic conduct.

According to a TAPinto report, Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage announced the resignation of embattled Police Director James Cosgrove.  The mayor also called on Police Chief Brennan to resign.

The resignation comes after the completion of a two-month investigation into the conduct of Elizabeth Police Director James Cosgrove that concluded that, over the course of many years, Cosgrove described his staff using derogatory terms, including racist and misogynistic slurs, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
