Report: Christie Telling Staff He is Going to the White House

So it was a farewell speech.

At least that’s what The New York Post is writing today:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is telling friends and staff he is taking a role with the Trump administration, according to a source close to the White House.

The GOP governor’s position has not been worked out, but he would not replace Reince Preibus as the president’s chief-of-staff, the source said.

If true, the story would confirm what several people in the packed Marriott Wardman Grand Ballroom pondered last week: namely the farewell tone of Christie’s Chamber of Commerce speech.

In the speech, the Republican governor took pains to talk about his accomplishments and warn the public about gubernatorial candidates who don’t know how to say no.
