According to the Asbury Park Press, Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore has resigned from the Ocean County Board of Elections.  He is expected to resign his position as chairman of the county organization ‘soon’, according to the report.

The longtime powerful chairman was convicted last week of failing to pay payroll taxes and submitting a false loan application, followed with calls for his resignation as chairman.
