Report: Governor Murphy Confirms Shooting Incident At American Dream Mall

Update: The State Police released the following statement on Thursday evening:

Earlier this evening, the New Jersey State Police responded to a shooting incident that occurred at American Dream in East Rutherford, Bergen County.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., troopers from the New Jersey State Police Meadowlands Station responded to the report of a shooting at American Dream. When troopers arrived, they discovered one male victim was shot. The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to an area hospital

American Dream was immediately locked down and troopers cleared the building while safely escorting patrons out.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives determined that only one suspect shot the victim, and detectives believe this to be an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public and the incident remains under investigation.

American Dream plans to reopen tomorrow for regular operating hours.

Update 8:23pm: The NJ State Police tweeted shortly after 8:15pm that the shooting incident has been determined to not be an active shooter, and that the American Dream Mall is secure; troopers are in the process of removing patrons.

NBC 4 New York reported Thursday evening that sources said it appears that one person was shot in the parking lot area, and that there may be three suspects involved in what possibly was a targeted attack.

A shooting occurred this evening at American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, per.  The Bergen Record reported that people inside the mall have posted on social media that the mall is on lockdown.  The Governor confirmed the shooting via Twitter, and advised the public to say clear of the area.

The State Police is currently investigating the shooting, which occurred shortly before 6pm.
