Report: Jersey City Councilman Lavarro Tests Positive For COVID-19
According to the Jersey Journal, Jersey City Councilman Rolando Lavarro tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. He is self-isolating at home.
Lavarro told the Journal that ‘it’s no joke. It’s very serious and very dangerous. We should take every precaution to listen to the calls for social distancing.’
Councilman Michael Yun has been hospitalized and is symptomatic, and is awaiting test results, according to the report.
According to Mayor Fulop, the city has 222 COVID-19 cases as of Friday March 27th. Hudson County has 594 cases as of Friday, according to the NJDOH.
The statewide COVID-19 case count as of 1pm Saturday March 28th has topped 10,000, and now stands at 11,124 and a total of 140 fatalities, an increase of 32 deaths in the past 24 hours.
