A judge has dropped a charge against Hamilton Mayor Kelly Yaede for her alleged role in the release of the expunged criminal records of a Republican Primary opponent.

“The criminal complaint states that on or about May 28, 2019, through June 6, 2019, Yaede and Sharfenberger revealed to another individual the existence of an arrest, conviction, or related legal proceeding with knowledge that the records and pertainent information had been expunged or sealed.  Specifically, the criminal offense occurred by posting expunged records on the hamiltonnjnews.blogspot and subsequently continued to publish them on the ‘Mayor Kelly Yaede’ Facebook page and in local media/newspapers.”

Yaede is scheduled to face Hamilton Council President Jeff Martin in the November election.

The mayor announced her bid for re-election in March in front of a crowd of Hamiltonians at the newly renovated Hamilton Lanes & Entertainment Center. 

“I’m running to protect Hamilton values with strong leadership that has been tested and proven time and time again.” said the Republican, who has been mayor since November 2012, when she was appointed to the position by township council to fill an unexpired term. She won re-election in 2013 and again in 2015. She previously served on the township Board of Education and township council.
