Report: Senator Cunningham Arrested in Jersey City on DWI Charge

Cunningham

From the Hudson County View: State Senator Sandra Cunningham (D-31) was arrested in Jersey City on a driving while intoxicated charge this morning after crashing into three parked cars.

Sources who spoke under the condition of anonymity, since they weren’t authorized to speak on the matter, independently confirmed the arrest following a Jersey City Times tweet about the accident and an in-depth account by Real Garden State.

A police report was still not available as of this afternoon since police officers were still with Cunningham at the Jersey City Medical Center to administer a court ordered blood test, sources said.

A Jersey Journal story this evening didn’t say anything about an arrest of the senator:

State Sen. Sandra Cunningham suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning that authorities are investigating as possibly being alcohol-related.

The crash occurred at 9:40 a.m. on Culver Avenue near Route 440, near the Democratic senator’s Jersey City home, police said in radio transmissions. The vehicles involved in the crash were Cunningham’s Infiniti G35X SUV, a Nissan Altima and a Ford Focus.
