Republican Mayoral Candidate in Edison Bows Out of General Election Showdown with Lankey

The Edison Republican Committee announced today that mayoral candidate Gaetano “Guy” Gaspari officially resigned from his candidacy for Mayor of Edison Township effective today as of 1 p.m. EST.

In Gaspari’s statement, he said he had to take a knee due to unforeseen personal and family matters. He made his decision in consultation with family and Edison Township Republican Chairperson Sylvia Engel.
Gaspari said he would do whatever he could to help Engel find a replacement candidate, and thanked everyone for what he said was the “overwhelming amount of support” he has received the past couple of weeks.
The bow out adds up to a win for incumbent Mayor Tom Lankey, a Democrat (pictured).
