Rittenhouse Files Petition for Sayreville Recount

Rittenhouse

Arthur J. Rittenhouse Jr., chair of the Sayreville Republican Committee and his party’s nominee for mayor in the Nov. 5th election, filed a petition in Superior Court for a recount of the Mayoral Election in Sayreville.

Running for the seat of retiring Republican Mayor Kennedy O’Brien, Democrat Victoria Kilpatrick defeated Rittenhouse by three votes.

Rittenhouse said he wants a recount due to “many irregularities and the closeness of the vote.”
“Some of the irregularities include 41 provisional ballots not counted due to poll worker error not the voters error,” he said. “Malfunctioning of one of the machines used to count the Vote by Mail ballots and they had a rerun of the votes but erased the original count from the malfunctioning machine so there was not way to compare. These are just two examples and residents have been calling with other irregularities.”
Rittenhouse thanked all the residents who supported him and said he wishes the county would do a recount and find out why these irregularities occurred.
