Roselle Park Dems Hit Eject Button on Hokanson in Favor of Signorello
Jettisoning incumbent Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson (pictured, right), the local Democratic Committee will
instead back Joseph Signorello III (pictured, above).
Signorello will run on a ticket with sitting Councilman Joseph Petrosky and 5th Ward Council candidate Robert Mathieu. All three won the support of the Committee in a unanimous vote.
The Committee’s candidate for Mayor, Joe Signorello III, has deep roots in Roselle Park dating back to 1904. The fifth generation “Parker” is following in the leadership footsteps of his father Joe Signorello Jr., who is the current Fire Chief of Roselle Park and Board of Education member, his grandfather Joe Sr., who was a staple on the Board of Education, and great grandfather, who founded local meet-up “Frenchy’s Bar and Grill” in 1964.
The local committee on March 4th declared 21-0 support for Signorello over Hokanson.
The mayor promptly switched party affiliation and is now running as an independent.
The fight is not directly related to the Union County Democratic Committee chairman’s fight. Both local Part Chairman Dan Petrosky – brother of the councilman – and Hokanson supported Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr.
