Salem County Confirms 9 New COVID-19 Cases, 1 Fatality; 12 Total Cases as of Monday

The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services announced an additional nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Salem County. These cases bring the total county case count to 12 as of Monday, March 30th.

The county also announced 1 COVID-19 associated death which is the first in Salem County.

The county had confirmed its second and third cases last Thursday.

The nine new cases are as follows:

  • A female in her 50s from Alloway
  • A male in his 50s from Woodstown
  • A male in his 70s from Elmer
  • A female in her 20s from Woodstown (Pilesgrove municipality)
  • A male in his 50s from Penns Grove, who is our first death
  • A female in her 80s from Penns Grove
  • A female in her 30s from Pennsville
  • A female in her 30s from Salem
  • A male in his 50s from Pedricktown

The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services continues to be actively engaged in monitoring all confirmed cases and continues to strive to inform and educate residents on this rapidly evolving situation. Residents should remember to remain vigilant in their personal efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and continue to check the Health Department’s website and social media for updated information.

Residents should also be aware that as more testing occurs, it is expected that the number of cases will rise. The Salem County Health Department is working attentively to address testing availability concerns and will continue to advise residents of new information regarding this when it becomes known.

The statewide COVID-19 case count climbed by 2,196 on Tuesday, March 31st, for a total of 18,696 cases; 69 New Jerseyans died since Monday, bringing the fatality count to 267 as of Tuesday.
