From Salem County:

The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services announced on Thursday March 26th its second confirmed case of COVID-19. The individual is a female in her 20s from Quinton Township. We are currently working with the individual to identify close contacts and provide guidance for evaluation and testing of those contacts as appropriate. Additional information regarding this case will be made available soon.

The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services wants to inform residents of an additional confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in Salem County. The individual is a female in her 80’s from Penns Grove who is currently hospitalized. This brings Salem County’s total positive COVID-19 cases to three.

The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services is working with the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) to assist with identifying any close contacts of this individual and notifying them accordingly. We are actively engaged in this investigation and the monitoring of all confirmed cases and will continue to work attentively to safeguard the health and well being of all residents in Salem County.

Residents should remain vigilant in their personal efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and continue to monitor the Health Department’s website and social media for updated information on this rapidly evolving situation. Residents should also be aware that we understand the concerns surrounding the availability of testing and are continuing to work diligently to address this.

The statewide COVID-19 case count as of 2pm Friday March 27th is 8825, and 108 fatalities, according to the NJDOH, a loss of 27 residents over the past 24 hours, and an increase of 1,982 cases.
