Sanders Swipes At Booker: ‘I Don’t Go To The Hamptons To Raise Money From Billionaires’

U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is polling at 2% in today's Monmouth University Poll, which shows significant ground gained by Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Presidential candidate and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders tweeted today that he has no plans to fundraise in the Hamptons, like fellow candidate Senator Booker (and others) did this weekend.

NJ.com reported that rock star Jon Bon Jovi helped raised funds for the state’s junior Senator in the Hamptons on Sunday at the home of Governor Phil Murphy.  The report says Booker’s campaign wouldn’t say how much money was raised or who was in attendance.  The report notes that California Senator Harris and President Trump both have had scheduled  fundraisers in the Hamptons.

Sanders tweeted that “I don’t go to the Hamptons to raise money from billionaires. If I ever visited there, I would tell them the same thing I have said for the last 30 years: We must pass a Medicare for All system to guarantee affordable health care for all, not just for those who can afford it”.
