Schaffer Barnstorming Franklin Township
Peg Schaffer, the long-serving chair of the Somerset County Democratic Committee, who hung through the lean times to seize control and sweep the GOP out of power during the Trump era, worked Franklin Township today as she tried to engineer a Democratic Party defense of the realm.
Franklin was always the key to Democratic Party wins here in this Central Jersey county, and as usual, Schaffer enlisted the help of Assemblyman Joe Danielsen (D-17) to get the vote out here.
U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-12) joined Schaffer in a late attempt to mobilize voters for Democrats in the mammoth Franklin in a closely-watched countywide contest where Jack Ciattarelli, last year’s Republican nominee, expects Republican Tom Kean, Jr. to coattail the GOP ticket.
I am a committee man in Franklin Twp. 42 district, a former Democratic mayor of Franklin Twp, and currently president of the Marconi Foundation. I am contacting you because I would like to have you arrange a meeting between the County Commissioners and a few members of the Executive Committee of the Marconi Foundation to discuss any reservation the County Commissioners would have about the placement of a bust of Marconi in the park. The members of the Marconi Board asked me to set up the meeting. The Marconi Foundation has clearance from the Franklin Township Council to install the bust but we need the County Commissioners to sign off on the project.
Our project involves no expenses to the county. We need nothing but their permission to move forward on the project.
If you like, I can meet with you first to discuss the matter. I am certain we can arrange a time and a place.
