Following a Wall Street Journal story this afternoon detailing Katie Brennan‘s allegations of rape and her assertions that no one would help her, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (R-39) said she is committed to helping Brennan.

“I have worked with Katie Brennan and my heart breaks for her tonight,” said the Republican Assemblywoman.

“As a fellow sexual assault survivor I know the courage it took her to come forward, not once but multiple times in an effort to have the right thing occur,” Schepisi added. “She was repeatedly let down.  First by the criminal justice system and then by her employer who she had volunteered her time to help elect. I pledge to do everything we can to have her story properly heard.

“Sexual assault is not and should never be a partisan event,” the assemblywoman added.
