Scutari Dives Head First into LD-11 with Over $100K Raised

NJ's Joint Legislative Committee on Ethical Standards dismissed a complaint filed by Linden Mayor Derek Armstead against state Senator Nick Scutari. The complaint alleged that a Scutari ally had intimidated Armstead's allies, tried to deny their civil rights and attempted to force them out of a Democratic County Committee race.

Sources close to Senator Nick Scutari (D-22) said the Senator is moving in aggressively for his long-time ally and friend Vin Gopal in LD-11. Already having done two fundraisers for the challenger, the sitting Judiciary Chairman has raised over $100,000 so far for Gopal’s candidacy against incumbent Senator Jen Beck (R-11). With 11 days left until election day, General Majority, the Super PAC run be South Jersey Power Broker George Norcross has yet to play in LD-11. The SuperPAC has so far spent $825,000 in LD-3 where Senate President Steve Sweeney faces a very expensive NJEA backed opponent, Salem County GOP Chairman Fran Grenier.

“This is personal for Nick – he is all in for Vin” said a source close to the Senator.
