Trenton – Following the latest disclosure of alleged abuse and assaults at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women, every member of the Senate Democratic Caucus signed the attached correspondence sent to Governor Phil Murphy calling for the immediate dismissal of Corrections Commissioner Marcus Hicks and for the Federal Government to take control of the chronically troubled facility.

The legislators also said that every effort should be made to remove all 395 women inmates from the facility and places them in a safer facility that is conducive to meeting their rehabilitative needs.
