Senate Judiciary Committee Moves the Nomination of David Calviello

Senator Holly Schepisi (R-39) this morning summoned veteran attorney David Calviello of Bergen County to the Senate Judiciary Committee for consideration as a state Superior Court Judge.

The committee unanimously backed Calviello, who attended the hearing with his family.

State Senator Paul Sarlo (D-36) took time to note Calviello’s “great experience.”

A partner with Calcagni & Kanefsky, Calviello is a veteran New Jersey prosecutor and former Trial Chief in the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. The nominee brings his extensive experience to bear in defending clients in white-collar criminal matters and all types of state crimes. He also handles internal and government investigations, complex litigation, and employment disputes.

Over the course of his 25-year career as a state prosecutor, Calviello handled every kind of criminal matter, tried nearly 60 jury trials, and received promotion to the highest-ranking Chief Assistant Prosecutor in the county. As Trial Chief for five years, he supervised a team of prosecutors who handled the majority of criminal cases in Bergen County, the most populated county in New Jersey.
