Senate Passes Budget Bill

The Senate passed the budget bill, substituting the Assembly bill that was just passed for the identical Senate version.  Sponsored by Senator Sarlo and Assemblyman Schaer – both Budget Committee chairs of their respective chambers – the bill was moved.

Senator Beck tried to rise for debate; Sweeney requested a vote be taken.

Beck moved it back for purposes of amendment; her motion failed.

The budget bill passed 21-14.

“It’s been a long one,” a relieved Senator Sweeney joked, awaiting more bills from the Assembly.
