Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari today announced the appointment of Addison Bryce Hinrichs as the new Senate Secretary for the State of New Jersey. A seasoned professional and dedicated public servant, Mr. Hinrichs brings significant government experience and a strong commitment to New Jersey’s residents.
As Senate Secretary, Mr. Hinrichs will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operation of New Jersey’s legislative process and upholding the Senate’s commitment to the people of the State. He will be responsible for maintaining detailed records of legislative proceedings, including debates, bills, amendments, and nominations, preserving the integrity of the Senate’s work. Mr. Hinrichs will oversee the operations of the Secretary’s Office, implementing measures to ensure its effectiveness and supporting the Senate’s broader mission. Mr. Hinrichs will also manage the examination and signing of every act passed by the Senate, a crucial step in the legislative process, while facilitating communication by receiving and transmitting official messages between the Senate and Assembly. Additionally, he will assist in presiding over Senate sessions, ensuring order and productivity in legislative proceedings.

A native of Independence Township in Warren County, Mr. Hinrichs now resides in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, with his wife, Caitlin Ellen Force. He previously served as Manager of Senate Operations and Constituent Outreach for the Senate Democratic Office, where he managed voting sessions, coordinated legislative processes, and developed resources to enhance constituent engagement.
A Rutgers University graduate with a degree in political science and history, Mr. Hinrichs is currently pursuing an Executive Master of Public Administration at Rutgers Camden. An Eagle Scout, he enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, skiing, and camping and remains passionate about public policy, economic development, and environmental stewardship.
