During a caucus meeting this morning, Senator Steven Oroho was declared by acclamation to be the next Leader of the New Jersey Senate Republicans.

“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve my colleagues in this new role as Senate Republicans work to get New Jersey back on track,” said Oroho (R-24). “We want New Jerseyans to know that our caucus heard the message sent by voters on Election Day loud and clear. We’ll work tirelessly to ensure that government respects people’s rights, addresses their concerns, and makes living in the Garden State more affordable for everyone.”

Following his selection, Oroho announced the Senate Republican leadership team for the 220th Legislature, which begins in January:

  • Senator Robert Singer (R-30) – Deputy Leader and Ranking Member of Health Committee
  • Senator Joe Pennacchio (R-26) – Deputy Leader
  • Senator Kristin Corrado (R-40) – Conference Leader
  • Senator Holly Schepisi (R-39) – Deputy Conference Leader
  • Senator Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) – Whip
  • Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-13) – Budget Officer
  • Senator Michael Doherty (R-23) – Ranking Member of Judiciary Committee

“Our new caucus leadership team is energized to take up the fight for New Jerseyans,” Oroho said. “We’re ready to be the voice of reason in Trenton that people deserve.”

“We sincerely hope that Jack Ciattarelli emerges victorious when all the votes are counted to give us a strong partner for reform in the Governor’s Office,” Oroho continued. “His common-sense message clearly resonated across New Jersey in places that Republicans don’t often reach. We have to seize this opportunity to expand the new relationships he helped build to the benefit of every New Jerseyan.”

Oroho also thanked outgoing Leader Tom Kean for his years of dedicated service to Senate Republicans and New Jersey.

“On behalf of the entire caucus, I’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to Senator Kean for his fourteen years as Leader,” Oroho concluded. “As a result of his consistent and sage leadership, Republicans are well-positioned to make a resurgence in New Jersey.”
