Senator Nia Gill (D-34) today endorsed Valerie Vainieri Huttle for State Senate in the District 37 Primary.
“I am proud to endorse my friend and colleague, Valerie Vainieri Huttle for State Senate in the 37th Legislative District. Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle is a champion of women’s rights, New Jersey’s families and seniors, individuals with disabilities, and the LGBTQ+ community.

“In her fifteen years in the Assembly, Valerie has proven herself as a progressive, effective, independent leader and public servant.

“The New Jersey Senate and the 37th District deserve a Senator who will fight for change. A Senator who will lead the way on critical issues impacting us all. I know Valerie Vainieri Huttle is the best person to do the vital work that must be done. That is why I am honored to stand with her.”

  1. Senator Nia Gill has always been willing to stick her neck out a bit in order to move the ball down the field; Murphy and Weinberg not so much. Gill’s endorsement today of Vainieri Huttle is a perfect example. Murphy and Weinberg stick with the machine candidate when they have nothing (Weinberg) or little (Murphy who likely is on his way to an easy re-election victory — the first for a Dem Guv since 1977) to lose. Murphy showed promise as a fighter against machine politics early in his first term. However, that was obviously a calculated effort to establish his bona fides with the progressives. Once Murphy did that he shoved his head back into the backsides of the party bosses, including Norcross. Maybe even ex-Senator Lesniak — who still narcissistically still refers to himself as Senator (and prehumously runs the institute named after him at Kean University)– can pull strings with the guv. Worse, Weinberg has pretty much never strayed from the machine bosses. If you want proof just look at her statement from back in 2019 when the Senate held the hearing in which Norcross testified (link below).
