Sherrill Says She Won’t Support Nancy Pelosi for Speaker

At tonight’s CD11 debate, Democrat Mikie Sherrill said she would not back Nancy Pelosi to serve as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives if Democrats win the House.

The debate took place at the Livingston Community Center.

“The next 50 years are not going to look like the last 50 years. We need new leadership and it starts at the top,” Sherrill later told InsiderNJ.

Tonight seemed to be the first time Sherrill expressed non-support for Pelosi publicly, although she said she had talked about it privately “around the dining room table.”

Sherrill’s comments were a change from previous forums when she declined to say if she would, or would not, support Pelosi.
