Sherrill Wins Mercer Democratic Backing

In her ongoing Democratic Primary bid for governor, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11) tonight won the formal backing of the Mercer County Democratic Committee.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka came in second.
NJEA Prez Sean Spiller came in third.
The other candidates did not compete in Mercer.
The vote totals:
Sherrill – 224.
Baraka – 133.
Spiller – 47.
Tonight, Sherrill released the following statement after winning the Mercer County Democratic Convention:
“Mercer Democrats voted for a different kind of leadership tonight and I’m so honored to have their support. This is a campaign we’re building together — and I’m going to take our message to every corner of the state, keep building our momentum, and earn support from voters who are on the ground fighting for a better future in their communities.
“With all the chaos coming from Trump’s Washington, this is a crucial moment in time, and the way we fight back is we show up. My promise is that I will always show up for New Jersey, and no matter how big the fight, I will always have your back. I’ve always run toward the fight — and that’s how I’ll lead as governor. Mercer County deserves a governor who will get to work to address our housing crisis, support our state’s capital city, and ensure we provide the necessary resources for all our residents to thrive.”
Last week, the congresswoman won the support of the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee, and Baraka finished in second place.
Sherrill: 89
Baraka: 68
Sherrill beat Baraka after the pair prevailed in a crowded field on first ballot.
Hunterdon was the first Democratic Primary contest of the season, featuring a square-off among the party contenders for governor.
Mercer tonight was the second.
Sherrill must give back the campaign donations given to her by Elon Musk companies. There are no excuses for her keeping that money.
