Sherrill Wins Monmouth County Dems' Backing
WALL TOWNSHIP - Mikie Sherrill today won the backing of the Monmouth County Democratic Committee.
Sherrill won easily, garnering 338 votes, or more than 60 percent. This was the third convention she has won.
Ras Baraka was second with 96 votes and Sean Spiller was third with 30. Fifty votes were cast for "others."
Sherrill issued the following statement:
“Today, Democrats in Monmouth County took a stand for our country and the future we believe in, and I’m so grateful to have their support. With the chaos and corruption coming from Trump’s Washington, we cannot afford to let the nation we hold dear slip through our fingers. I know we can help preserve it here in New Jersey and that’s why I’m running for governor — because in 2025, we have a duty to chart a different path forward. I didn’t take an oath to MAGA; I took an oath to the Constitution — and will defend you with everything I’ve got.
“We’re going to keep showing up, making the case to voters no matter where they are, and building a broad coalition – together. From Hunterdon to Mercer to Monmouth and in communities up and down the state, our team is growing. I’m asking folks across New Jersey to join me in this mission, because our state, our country, and our future are worth fighting for.”

New Jersey is not #1 , Best in the Nation school system. It’s all in the standards. Students are leaving high school and they are not prepared. “The reason for the cold slap of reality according to FutureEd is the fact that state standards “ fall short “ of the benchmark denoting true college and career - readiness.” So I guess anyone state can declare themselves # 1 if they alter their standards low enough. These students are New Jerseys future workforce. Something all gubernatorial candidates need to consider, especially when falsely claiming New Jersey ranks number 1 in the nation. Just be honest is all anyone expects.
Sherrill is not a friend to NJ taxpayers. She voted 100% of the time with Biden and gave us the American Recovery Act that saddled taxpayers with TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS and the HIGHEST INFLATION since President Jimmy Carter (another Democrat). She also voted the multi-TRILLION DOLLAR boondoggle infrastructure/green new deal law that further saddled taxpayers with unmitigated massive debt and record high inflation. So no!!!! Anyone voting for Sherrill should have their citizenship revoked and shipped off to China if they want a Communist regime running New Jersey.
But, but, Gottheimer is promising everyone a 15% tax cut !!!
Recent headlines: “Mediation talks failed to reach a solution to a landmark lawsuit between the Latino Action Network v. New Jersey.” The case is going to trial. The nation is watching this case and so should Mikie Sherrill and all the other gubernatorial candidates. New Jersey’s home rule policy’s, which has been kicked down the road by every administration because of its’ potential to up end ones political career, end result is New Jersey has the sixth most segregated school system in the nation for Black students and seventh for Latino student. New Jersey schools are best in the nation for white and Asian students, for all other demographics not so good. The lower socioeconomic group ranks number 25 . This is one of those issues that will need to be addressed head on in this election. New Jersey can’t have it both ways . On one hand protesting for the rights of the undocumented and disadvantaged and on the other hand - But, not in my school.
A self-described Blue Dog Democrat whose husband is a top Wall Street bankster is not going to reverse Reaganomics, outlaw bribery, or restore the American Dream.

So what is the path forward? She seems more focused on Trump. How about some meaningful talk about issues?
Same committee gave Andy Kim just 57% last year, clearly Sherrill is incredibly popular.
