KEARNY – A charter bus rolled up alongside the high school and deposited a single iconic figure before it roared off down the drive to park.

It was U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8).

“We’ve got our 50,” said Sires.

That’s 50 votes for Amy DeGise.

“This was so unnecessary,” the congressman said before trotting down to the bus and jumping aboard again to bark orders to his committee members.

Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez was there too.

“I even brought food,” said Sires, cracking a grin.
