Sires to Boycott Trump’s State of the Union Speech

Sires

U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8) of West New York said he will not attend President Donald J. Trump’s State of the Union Address tomorrow.

“This guy has insulted and abused every group I represent,” Sires told InsiderNJ. “I don’t want to be there. My district has always been a destination for immigrants. You name it, and I have it [in the 8th].”

Sires said he made the decision without consulting other members of Congress.

He’s simply tired of the President’s invective.

“I decided on my own,” Sires said. “The fact is he says one thing one day and the next day he changes his mind. He’s the leader of the free world and you can’t trust anything he says.:

The congressman said he doesn’t have any specific plans to supplant sitting in the joint session of Congress.

“We finish tomorrow so I’ll probably just head back,” he told InsiderNJ.
