Sires’ Shaky Ground in Stack-Fulop World
The war between Sacco and Stack means that if Stack finally maintains the upper-hand, U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8) will be out.
“Out,” a source told InsiderNJ.
Who would replace him?
“It will be ABA – Anyone but Albio,” the source said.
The latest hostilities between the two North Hudson senators occurred following Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise’s acceleration of conversations concerning his next term in office, the source said.
“Tom was going around soliciting support for another term and it just came to a head,” the source said.
Stack and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop want another direction for county leadership.
If they succeed, DeGise pal Sires would be another casualty.
Sources have mentioned Fulop as a possible replacement for Sires but a Jersey City operative played that down, arguing that Fulop possesses a stronger power base as mayor of the city than as a federal rep scrambling back and forth to Washington.
One source said Sires is a case of “good old failing upwards.”
