Today, Congressman Albio Sires (D-8) released the following statement after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced her intention to move forward with articles of impeachment:

“I support Speaker Pelosi’s decision to move forward with articles of impeachment.  Even with the Administration’s lack of cooperation – the testimony relayed by numerous witnesses shows that the President has abused his office. Not only that, it appears he has a fundamental flaw in his understanding of the duties of President.  The President is supposed to make decisions in the best interest of the American people, not his own political standing.  When a President fails in this responsibility, it is Congress’s constitutional duty to protect our democratic institutions.”
