Attorney Colin Bell may pursue the Atlantic County Democratic Committee Chairmanship, a source told InsiderNJ.

Bell is a former freeholder who ran for assembly in 2015 and served as senator in 2017 following the death of Senator Jim Whelan.

Bell lost to Senator Chris Brown (R-2) in a general election donnybrook.

Current Chairman Mike Suleiman’s possible departure opens the way for Bell, who may be best positioned to serve as his successor, the source said.

But the chairman said he fully intends to stick around.

“I am still remaining the Chairman through the end of my term in June and fully intend to seek a second term,” Suleiman said.
