Lance Lopez, the former president of PBA Local 105 (corrections), was taking calls this morning from Mercer County Democratic Committee members toward a likely soon-to-be-vacant Assembly seat in LD15.

A source close to the situation told InsiderNJ that his support would come out of Trenton and Ewing.

Lopez was on the scene when Liz Muoio first emerged to challenge for the Assembly seat when Bonnie Watson Coleman won the 2014 race for Congress and gave up her Ewing-based assembly seat.

His rivals argue that he’ll be a non-starter, pointing to this case of a rigged election at the local that prompted Lopez’s ouster.
